Getting Started: Generating Your First AI Image or Video with AvocadoAI
This guide walks you through setting up your account, choosing between top models like Veo 3.1 and Sora 2, writing clear prompts, and generating professional-quality visuals or short clips.
Welcome to AvocadoAI! This guide will help new users create their first AI-generated content, whether it's an image or a short video. AvocadoAI is an all-in-one platform that offers powerful models (like Google’s Veo 3.1 for video and OpenAI’s Sora 2 for video) to turn your text prompts into creative outputs
Follow the steps below to set up your account, choose the right model, enter an effective prompt, and generate your first AI image or video.
Step 1: Set Up Your AvocadoAI Account
Sign Up – Begin by creating an account on AvocadoAI’s website. You’ll need a valid email and a secure password. After signing up, confirm your email if required, and log in.
Choose a Plan – If AvocadoAI offers tiers or credits, select the free tier or a subscription that fits your needs. New users often have free credits to test the platform.
Tip: Make sure to complete any onboarding tutorial AvocadoAI provides. It may showcase features and best practices for using the platform.
Step 2: Choose a Generation Model (Image or Video)
Once logged in, you’ll see options for different AI content types. Decide whether you want to create an image or a video, then select the appropriate model:
For Images: Select an AI image generator from AvocadoAI’s model list (e.g. a diffusion-based model or any available image model). Ensure you’re in the “Image” generation section of the interface.
- For Videos: Switch to the “Video” generation tab. Here you can choose between state-of-the-art video models such as Veo 3.1 (developed by Google) or Sora 2 (by OpenAI)
- These models generate short video clips with audio from text prompts. If you’re unsure, start with Veo 3.1 for robust scene control or Sora 2 for slightly longer clips – more on their differences later.
- Why choose a model? Each model has unique strengths. For example, Sora 2 can produce up to 8–12 seconds of video in one go, whereas Veo 3.1 generates up to ~8-second clips with strong visual consistency
- Both output high-quality 1080p resolution by default
Don’t worry too much about this now – you can experiment with different models as you get comfortable.
Step 3: Enter a Prompt and Configure Settings
With a model selected, it’s time to write your prompt – the description of what you want to create:
Write a Clear Prompt: Describe the image or scene you have in mind in one or two sentences. Be specific about key elements (subject, setting, style) so the AI has enough guidance. For example, “A cozy cottage in a forest clearing at sunset, in the style of a watercolor painting” or “A 5-second video of a golden retriever puppy playing in slow motion in a park, cinematic lighting.”
Avoid Overly Long Prompts: Focus on the essentials. Unnecessarily long or complex prompts may confuse the model. Clarity is more important than length.
Select Content Type Settings: AvocadoAI may present additional options depending on the model:
For images, you might set dimensions or aspect ratio (e.g. square vs. portrait).
For videos, choose an aspect ratio (typically 16:9 landscape or 9:16 vertical) and the clip length (within the model’s limits). By default, stick with the standard options (e.g. 16:9 and the max duration allowed for the model). Note: Veo 3.1 currently supports up to ~8 seconds per generation, while Sora 2 may allow around 12 seconds for regular users (and even 15+ seconds for some Pro users)
Add Reference Input (Optional): If the model allows reference images or other inputs, you can upload an image to guide the generation. For instance, Veo 3.1 supports adding reference images to better reflect a specific character or object in the video.
For images, you might provide a rough sketch or example image if the tool has that feature. This step is optional – you can always generate purely from text if you prefer.
Before generating, double-check your prompt for any spelling mistakes or disallowed terms (see Best Practices below on what to avoid). Once everything looks good, you’re ready to create!
Step 4: Generate Your First AI Content
Now, click the “Generate” button (often labeled “Create” or “Run”). The AI model will process your prompt. This might take a moment – video generation can take 30–60 seconds for a short clip as a lot of computation is happening
, whereas image generation usually completes faster.
While you wait:
Do not refresh the page. A progress bar or status indicator should show that your content is being created.
Some models may show preview frames or intermediate steps; others will display the final result when done.
Step 5: Review and Refine the Output
Once generation finishes, your result will appear:
Review the output: Did the image/video match your expectations? Check the details. For videos, play the clip with sound (Veo 3.1 and Sora 2 include AI-generated audio like ambient sound by default).
If it’s great, congratulations – you’ve created your first AI-generated content on AvocadoAI! You can now download it (look for a download button or menu) to save it to your device.
If not, don’t worry. AI art is an iterative process. You can refine and try again:
Tweak your prompt: add or remove details, or clarify the description. For example, if the style wasn’t right, mention a specific style (“oil painting” or “CGI” or “anime style,” etc.).
Try a different model: Each model interprets prompts differently. If the image model you chose gave an odd result, you could switch to another image model. If Veo 3.1’s video wasn’t what you wanted, you could try Sora 2 for a slightly different approach (keeping in mind Sora’s outputs may emphasize realism and narrative flow).
Adjust settings: For images, maybe use a higher resolution or different aspect ratio; for video, ensure you’re within supported duration.
Generate again after adjustments. It’s common to do a few passes to get the perfect result. Even experienced users refine prompts multiple times – so experiment and enjoy the creative process.
